Hi! I'm Robin Gallant.

You may know me from my fitness twitter: since January 2013, my account, @robingallantfit, has gained substantial popularity, now with over 9000 followers. (Hard to wrap my head around - to think that many people are interested in what I have to say!) For the past year it has been my portal to the fitness world - a source of fitness inspiration and way to connect with like-minded people.

I am a 22 year-old student at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.  I currently am finishing my last two years of my Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry after a two-year interim study of Engineering.  I prefer a hard science angle, which is why I chose to study biochemistry and metabolism over dietetics or nutrition.

Last semester, I self-coached, prepared for and competed in my first bikini competition in November.  (Although I loved competing, I also love full access to my mental capacities - and caloric deficits and 10% body fat isn't exactly conducive to learning!) Now in offseason, my brain is currently enjoying the extra flow of glucose and I am free to absorb as much information as possible.  I'm also "taking care" of my metabolic rate by reverse dieting so I can optimize my caloric intake at a reasonable weight before I start prep with my best friend, boyfriend and coach Jeff Nippard this April.

My fairly new obsession with bodybuilding paired with my longstanding love of science has me on a quest to pursue the latest, most relevant, and credible info in Nutritional Science as it pertains to muscular hypertrophy (bodybuilding). Because I love sharing what I've learned, I wrote this website with the goals of:

  • Explaining the concept and benefits of flexible dieting
  • Summarizing the science behind diet, metabolism, nutrients, and how these may be manipulated to improve body composition
  • Giving science-based recommendations for nutrient intake
  • Being a general resource to my twitter followers and clients
